Design Smart was contracted to do the mechanical design for the Philips LED Cyc. The unit uses LED source technology combined with its asymmetrical reflector to deliver consistent light distribution for flood lighting applications. It can be used as a top cyclorama or a groundrow. This is done by simply orienting the Yoke by releasing, orienting and then re-fixing the Yoke's locking mechanism.

Delivering a smooth even beam, the unit seamlessly blends intense washes of colour on cycloramas up to 5m high. Each luminaire can replace the equivalent of a traditional four colour 1000W per circuit Cyc luminaire, and with the convenient Powercon system, it can light a typical cyclorama with a single 10A non-dim circuit.

The unit has an on-board LCD menu system for setup / control, and supports wireless DMX512 control for instant connections. The optional wireless receiver also has a DMX512 output port to control adjacent luminaires.

All these above features and the required PCB Driving electronic equipment with a shielded Power Supply for the LED management made for yet another complicated 3D jig Saw puzzle. This all needed to be solved within a predetermined space envelope / form. The final result has exceeded market expectations.
